Our History

History of JG51

Our Geschwader is relatively new to WWII On-Line, but our WWII On-Line experience dates back to the beginning of the game. We formed the Geschwader in the beginning of September 2008, and went active on 28 September 2008. To date our history is short, but we look forward to writing it with you.


About JG51

We are a WWII On-Line Luftwaffe only Geschwader that only flies the BF109 on squad nights. Our goal as a unit is first to have fun and second to become the best BF109 drivers collectively in the game. We will be placing a lot of emphasis on teamwork and tactics and not so much on individual skill. Although we encourage every pilot to better themselves it’s our philosophy that we can overcome any short comings in personal skill with superior tactics and teamwork. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with using tactics or flying with a wingman because we take pride in training our pilots and will be spending quite a bit of time in the training arena. If you’re a skilled pilot and are comfortable using teamwork and tactics then we will be tapping your experience to help up train other less experienced pilots.

What we ask of you

First and foremost we ask that you are a team player. Our survival in game rests on our ability to use teamwork. Second, we ask that if you cannot attend a squad night you let us know in advance as much as you can. The Geschwader plans are created around its pilots, so if we have no shows it affects our operations. We also require all pilots to fly the BF109 during squad nights. We do believe that your time is your time in game so we do not ask that you only play the German side, but we do highly recommend that you spend as much time in the Me109 as possible.

Good communication in teamwork is essential and as a unit we use the TeamSpeak program for our voice communication.  We require all our pilots to have and be able to use this program. The program is free and is relatively easy to install and use. If however you have any problem s we have some very knowledgeable pilots that will be more than willing to help you with it.
